Kamloops Broncos get Vernon boost

Twelve Vernon products dot the roster of the B.C. Football Conference squad, which has started the year 0-2

Vernon’s Broden Romanovitch hauled in a 38-yard touchdown pass, but his Kamloops Broncos fell 45-30 to the defending champion Okanagan Sun in B.C. Football Conference action Saturday at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops.

Romanovitch and fellow Fulton Maroons alumnus Mike Ochoa were ranked in the top-50 players in the pre-season Canadian Junior Football Conference poll. Romanovitch was ranked #44, Ochoa #46.

The two are part of 12 Vernon products on the Broncos, who have started the 2016 season 0-2. Also playing in Kamloops are Brandon Melbourne, Colten Gaudet, Jeffrey Hiscoe, John Garvie, Justin Haverkamp, Levi Nicholas, Lucas Hofer, Robert Filice, Tanner Bishop and Zach Hyer.

Nicholas, a 2015 B.C. all-star running back with the Vernon Panthers, is out for the year after a season-ending knee injury in the Broncos’ opening game.
