Kolten Nelson scored a hat trick as the Nelson Leafs routed the Spokane Braves 7-2 at home Sunday.
Jordan Davie, Sam Weber, Levi Hulston and Cleary Ambrose, with his first KIJHL goal, also scored for Nelson (20-27-2), which rebounded after a poor 6-3 loss to Castlegar on Saturday night.
All three of Kolten Nelson’s goals were on the power play, and the Leafs finished 4 for 8 on the man advantage.
Elliot Plourde and Kurtis Redding replied for Spokane (8-38-4), which is playing out the season after failing to make the playoffs.
Curt Doyle earned the win with 26 saves in Nelson’s net. At the other end of the ice, Patrick Kasper allowed five goals on 14 shots before being replaced by Blake Norman, who in turn stopped 19 shots.
Nelson, which has just three games left in the regular season, hosts Creston on Wednesday.
