Nelson Leafs forward Nicholas Ketola has been suspended three games for a hit to the head of an opposing player.
Ketola charged toward Kimberley Dynamiters forward Korbyn Chabot at 5:40 in the third period of Nelson’s 4-0 loss Saturday.
He was assessed a head-contact penalty and a game misconduct. An extra game was added to his suspension because the hit occurred in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Ketola isn’t eligible to return to the Leafs until their away game Feb. 6 against the Spokane Braves.
Leafs head coach Mario DiBella disputed the call after the game, saying he only saw Ketola make contact with Chabot’s head. Kimberley head coach Jerry Bancks meanwhile said Chabot was woozy after the game and would be tested for a concussion.
Ketola has five goals and seven assists in 39 games.
