KIJHL: Nelson Leafs take North Okanagan Knights in OT

The Leafs’ six game winning streak will be challenged by the Kelowna Chiefs tonight at the Rutland arena.

The Nelson Leafs continue on their six game winning streak as they took the North Okanagan Knights 4-3 in second overtime in an away game Friday.

The game started with Leaf Blair Andrews scoring during a power play, which was returned by Knight Colin Robin.

in the second Leaf Andy Fitzpatrick brought the score to 2-1 but that was quickly followed by goals from Knights Austin Fournier and Trent Redschlag taking the Okanagan division team ahead 3-2.

Leaf Austin Anselmo buried the puck in the Knights net bring them to a 3-3 tie and taking them into overtime. Once again Leaf Tyler Garcia scored the winning goal in second overtime.

The Leafs out shot  the Knights 39-27, as goalie Patrick Ostermann tended the Leafs net. Also notable: Austin Lindsay had two assists for the Leafs.

Neil Murdock division leader and Leafs rival the Beaver Valley Nitehawks ended their winning streak in a  as they lost 4-2 to the Kelowna Chiefs.

The Leafs forge ahead to play the Kelowna Chiefs tonight, face off the Summerland Steam Sunday.
