Back-to-back come-from-behind victories have the Langley Knights back in first place in the PJHL’s Harold Brittain Conference.
The junior B hockey club rallied to beat the Grandview Steelers 5-4 in overtime on Dec. 4 and then beat the Ridge Meadows Flames 5-2 the next night.
The victories ended a four-game losing streak for Langley (14-10-1-1, 30 points) and gives them a two-point lead over the Aldergrove Kodiaks and the Abbotsford Pilots in a tight race for top spot in the division.
Against the Steelers on the Knights’ home ice, Blake Gorrill scored in the third period to force overtime and Colin Catchpole notched the winner at 3:39 of double overtime.
Tristan Craighead, Carson Rose and Dylan McCann had the other Knight goals with Nickolas Trenciansky stopping 35 shots for the victory.
Jackson Waniek, Braeden Gurney, Peter Matthews and Nico Bruno had the Grandview goals.
Against the Flames in Maple Ridge the next night, Langley trailed 2-1 after 40 minutes but exploded for four straight goals to win.
Levi De Waal, Rose, Jackson Surbey and McCann all scored in the final 20 minutes. Surbey had also opened the scoring.
Trenciansky had 35 saves for the win.
Boston Colley and Bradley Crompton had the Flames goals.
The Knights travel to Aldergrove Arena to face the Kodiaks tomorrow (Wednesday) night before hosting the Flames on Thursday at the George Preston Recreation Centre.
Aldergrove (11-8-2-4, 28 points) is on a roll as well with five straight victories.
