Jeremy Lagler’s power-play goal with 5:12 to play snapped a 3-3 tie and sent the Aldergrove Kodiaks to a 4-3 victory.
The junior B hockey club was at Richmond’s Minoru Arena to face the Richmond Sockeyes on Oct. 17.
The Kodiaks led 1-0 and 2-1 at the first and second intermissions, respectively, before a wild final period that saw each team score twice in an eight-minute stretch.
Scott McHaffie, Kenny Prato and Adam Callegari had the other Kodiak goals.
Callegari finished with a goal and two assists.
Tate Sproxton stopped 27 of the 30 shots he faced.
With the win, Aldergrove jumped ahead of Abbotsford for top spot in the PJHL’s Harold Brittain Conference.
The Kodiaks improved to 8-4-0-0 and are one point ahead of the Pilots, although Abbotsford does have a game in hand.
The Kodiaks, who boast the top five scorers in the PJHL, are back in action on Oct. 23 as they host the Granview Steelers at the Aldergrove Arena. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
