Two straight wins for Langley junior A lacrosse squad

Back-to-back victories have the Langley Junior Thunder in the thick of the playoff race.

With four games remaining in the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League regular season, the Thunder improved to 9-8-0, which ties them for third place.

The two latest foes for Langley where a pair of Vancouver Island teams.

On Saturday (June 23), the Thunder travelled to Nanaimo’s Frank Crane Arena where they doubled up the host Jr. Timbermen 8-4.

And on Sunday (June 24), at the Langley Events Centre, the Thunder edged the Victoria Jr. Shamrocks 11-9.

In the first game, Reegan Comeault had a goal and five assists, while Bryan Gillis and Adam Will scored twice apiece.

Eric Ransom, Brandon Bull and Sean Lundstrom scored once each in the victory.

Giulio Del Branco stopped 37 of the 41 shots he faced.

Against the Shamrocks, Langley raced out to a 5-1 lead in the first period, and led 9-4 early in the third. But Victoria reeled off five straight goals in a eight-minute span to pull even, before Brendan Mykle-Winkler and Lundstrom struck in the late going for the two-goal victory.

Comeault had the hat trick, plus one assist, while Lundstrom finished with a pair of goals and a helper. Gillis also had a big game with a goal and four assists.

William Vanden Hooven, Matt Messenger, Mike Bosch and Will had a goal apiece.

Patrick Bayliss stopped 35 of the 44 shots he faced.

Langley will look to stretch their win streak to three games on June 26 as they visit the New Westminster Jr. Salmonbellies (114-4-0) at Queen’s Park Arena. They also host the Burnaby Jr. Lakers (3-13-0) on June 28 at the LEC.
