Langley FC wins league title

U16 girls soccer team eyes third straight appearance at provincial championships

The Langley FC U16 Gold soccer team has won a pair of nail-biters there last two times out.

The team defeated Burnaby 2-1 in a game that needed penalty kicks, to win the B.C. Coastal Girls Soccer League championship.

The final was played on March 1 in Burnaby.

And then on Sunday, Langley scored a 1-0 victory over their long-time rivals from Chilliwack in the Fraser Valley final.

The team now shifts their attention to Cup play as they hope to qualify for the provincial championships for a third straight year.

The team is made up of Alycia Thompson, Virginia Nikkel, Bethany Jackson, Hallie Urzinger, Hannah Plowman, Jenna Stea, Jordan Hagen, Kylie Poohachoff, Liesl Van Wyk, Miranda Parker, Rachel Lamborn, Sandra Wong, Simran Dhaliwal, Taylor Cahill, Taylor Michon and Tripat Sandhu.

The coaches are Jamie Plowman and Mike Lamborn.
