A pair of athletes, a coach, a volunteer, and a judge, all from Langley, were among the recipients at Gymnastics BC’s annual awards banquet on Saturday in Burnaby.
The Langley Gymnastics Foundation was honoured as the volunteer team of the year for their outstanding leadership in presenting the Western Canadian gymnastics championships in May.
Shelly Welch, a board member with the LGF, was also named the volunteer of the year for her continued dedication to her club and Gymnastics BC.
Flip City’s Madeline Haugen was named the provincial female athlete of the year.
Langley’s Frank Szabo Jr., of the Richmond Gymnastics Association, won the John Tutte national level coach of the year.
Zachary Clay, who began with Flip City but now trains with Abbotsford’s Twisters Gymnastics, was presented with the Owen Walstrom outstanding male athlete of the year award.
And Julie Sture received her 10-year judging service pin.
