Langley Olympians trio help Team BC win silver

Three Langley swimmers show well at the Arizona meet

Hillary Metcalfe, Justin Schramm and Renae Ledoux helped Team BC to a second place finish at the Southwest Classic Invitational in Tucson, Arizona.

The meet was held May 19 to 22 and featured teams from Arizona, California, Mexico and South Africa, as well as Team BC, which featured the trio of Langley Olympians Swim Club members.

Metcalfe won silver in the 200 breast and bronze in the 100 breast, in addition to finishing sixth in the 400 IM and seventh in the 200 back and 400 and 800 free.

Schramm was fourth in the 1500 free while Ledoux was sixth in the 200 breast and eighth in the 100 breast.

And while those three were in Arizona, other members of the Olympians hit the pool at the Hyack Festival Youth Cup in New Westminster from May 20-22.

Seventeen LOSC members took part in the meet, which featured swimmers from across the Lower Mainland, Alberta and the United States.

Bailey Herbert led the way by achieving her first Canadian trials time in the 400 IM.

She was also tops in the girls 12/13 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM, 400 IM and 800 freestyle events while winning silver in the 400 free.

Josie Field won gold in the girls 14/15 100 and 200 butterfly events and Joshua Kim topped the podium in the boys 14/15 100 breaststroke and was second in the 200 butterfly.

Luke Stewart-Beinder and Brayden Herbert, both in the boys 11 and under category, each won silver in the 400 freestyle and 50 freestyle events, respectively.

And Hugh McNeill took bronze in the boys 12/13 1500m freestyle event.
