Langley pair help Sockeyes capture Cyclone Taylor Cup

Daniell Lange and Danton Heinen combine for three goals, seven assists at provincial junior B hockey championships

Daniell Lange finished second in tournament scoring as the Richmond Sockeyes captured the 2013 Cyclone Taylor Cup.

The junior B provincial hockey championships wrapped up on April 14 in Comox Valley with the Sockeyes defeating the Victoria Cougars 4-1.

The win advances Richmond — the Pacific Junior Hockey League champions — to the Keystone Cup, which is the western Canadian championships, in St. Malo, Man. It runs April 18 to 21.

The Cougars were the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League champions.

Lange finished the tournament with two goals and four assists in four games, while Danton Heinen had one goal and two assists over the tournament.

Both players are products of the Langley Minor Hockey Association.

Richmond had beat Victoria 5-2 in the first game and then knocked off the Comox Valley Glacier Kings 6-2 on the second day. The Glacier Kings were the host squad.

And in the team’s final round robin game, they defeated the Castlegar Rebels 3-2. The Rebels were the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League champs.
