For the second straight game, Scott Webster belted a home run as the Langley Senior Blaze tamed the Kamloops Sun Devils 3-1.
The win improved Langley to 9-1 in Pacific International League play.
The second game of the doubleheader on June 23 at Kamloops’ Norbrock Stadium was rained out.
Webster’s blast was part of a three-run first inning — with Ricky Alvarez driving home Brooklyn Foster for the other run — and that was more than enough offence for Blake Stewart.
The pitcher allowed just four hits while striking out eight over six and one-third innings. Aaron Dick came on for the final two outs, escaping a bases loaded jam for the save.
Langley also had a pair of exhibition games on Sunday, against EnFuego, a collegiate team from just south of Seattle, at Abbotsford’s Delair Park.
The Blaze won the opener 10-2 with Bob Foerster going 3-for-3 while Webster and Joe Germaine both had three RBIs.
On the mound, Devon Stewart allowed just one hit over four innings while striking out three.
The second game also went Langley’s way, this time 8-2.
The score was tied at one after the first three and a half innings. But the Blaze struck for three runs in both the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to blow open the game.
Germaine again drove in a pair of runs, as did Dillon Reynolds.
Steven Federau picked up the win, allowing one run over two and one-third innings of work.
