Langley swimmers strike for four medals

Justin Schramm leads the way with gold, bronze at Kamloops meet

A trio of Langley swimmers helped Team B.C. to a second place finish at the 2013 Prospects West training camp and meet in Kamloops.

Chelsea Borrowdale, 13,  Robyn Nakana, 14, and Justin Schramm, 15, were among the 96 swimmers who hit the pool for a brief training camp, and then the meet on the final day.

All three are members of the Langley Olympians Swim Club.

It wrapped up on April 21.

Team B.C. finished behind Alberta by a mere 3.5 points.

Schramm won gold in his age group for the 200 fly and bronze in the 400 individual medley.

Borrowdale was second for the 200 IM and fourth in the 100 breast event.

And Nakano was second in the 100 fly and seventh in the 50 back.

The swimmers were selected based on their performances at the Western Canadian championships and the B.C. AAA championships held earlier this year.

“It’s very inspiring for our club when we have swimmers selected to represent Team B.C.,” said Olympians head coach Brian Metcalfe.

“The swimmers had a great weekend of training, education and racing and have come away with lots of positive attitude for the continuing long course season.”

The club has ongoing registration and is currently offering a free month for new members. Please call 604-532-5257 or visit www.langleyolympians.com for more details.
