A record of 3-2 earned the Langley Christian Lightning eighth spot at the Fraser Valley AA senior boys basketball championships.
The Lightning were knocked from the championship side of the draw in their second game, falling 67-46 to the Archbishop Carney Stars. Langley Christian had won its opener, 61-38 over the Samuel Roberts Technical Titans.
Needing a win in their third game to keep playing, the Lightning came through, rallying from a half-time deficit to defeat the Rick Hansen Hurricanes 80-70. And Langley Christian made it two wins in a row with a 71-61 defeat of the G.W. Graham Grizzlies to advance to the seventh/eighth place game.
But the Lightning fell 80-67 to Southridge.
Langley Christian’s Mitchell Jarvie was named a second-team all-star.
