The Boston College Eagles thumped the University of Minnesota, 6-1 Thursday night to earn its fifth national championship appearance in seven seasons.
Nelson Minor Hockey graduate Isaac MacLeod is a sophomore defenceman on the Eagles and will be part of the team that will now challenge for an NCAA title in Tampa Bay on Saturday night against Ferris State.
Senior forward Paul Carey led the Eagles with two goals and sophomore center Kevin Hayes’goal at 6:35 in the second proved to be the gamewinner as BC limited Minnesota’s top-rated offense to a single goal.
“I think that looking at our game, timely saves by our goaltender, opportunistic scoring, and then that bounce-back goal were keys to bringing us to our Saturday night game,” head coach Jerry York told media after the game. “I am very excited about our possibility of winning a national championship, it’s something we look forward to from the start of the year.”
