The PacWest basketball season is getting harder already.
Vancouver Island University’s teams won just one of four on a homestand this past weekend at the VIU gym. The VIU men started off with a 91-74 win against the Douglas Royals on Friday, but were edged 70-67 by the Capilano Blues the next day. VIU’s women lost 59-52 to Douglas and were beaten 69-40 by Cap.
Statistics from Friday’s men’s game weren’t available. On Saturday, Bryson Cox led the Mariners with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Usama Zaid scored 13 and Hayden Hall had 11.
For the M’s women, Emily Clarke scored 14 points and Kaitlyn Lafontaine scored 13 in Friday’s game. Sienna Pollard grabbed 12 rebounds. On Saturday, Pollard scored 13 and Clarke pulled down 10 boards.
GAME ON … VIU’s basketball teams are on the road this weekend (Nov. 11-12) to play the Quest Kermodes and Langara Falcons, respectively.
