The MEI Eagles Senior Golf team won the 2015 ‘AA’ provincial championships for the second time in school history.

Hosted at the prestigious Predator Ridge Golf and Country Club in Vernon, MEI beat out 14 other schools, including the two-time defending champion Kwalikum Secondary Kondors.

“It’s great to be back in the winner’s circle. Coming from behind like we did says something about the character of our team,” said Eagles head coach Rich Balzer, who also led the school to its 2004 championship.

MEI took home the Fraser Valley Regional Championship banner prior to provincials, winning by two strokes over the Hatzic Secondary Crusaders.

With the rain and windy conditions during the first round of the two-day provincial tournament, the Eagles found themselves down by 10 strokes and sitting in third place.

John Engh and University of the Fraser Valley signee Nathan Bahnman both came through on the final day, each carding a round of 72 (+2),

Kyle Claggett, Mitch Janzen, and Matt Klassen rounded out the Eagles roster.
