Langley senior men's baseball team's losing streak reaches four games

The Langley Senior Blaze continue to struggle, dropping both ends of a doubleheader to the visiting Everett Merchants.

The senior men’s baseball team was hosting Everett in Pacific International League play on Saturday (July 6) at McLeod Park.

They lost the opener 9-0 — managing just one hit — before faring better in game two, but still coming up short, 4-2.

Jovan Ewusie had both Langley RBIs and brought home Bob Foerster each time, the first with a second-inning double and then later with a fifth-inning triple.

Jesse Peters pitched a complete game in the losing effort, fanning eight batters over the seven innings.

In the first game, Corey Parsons was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs — but only two of those earned — over four innings. He struck out three.

The losses push the team’s losing streak to four games.

The Blaze, made up of collegiate players from the area who are home for the summer from their respective teams, play in a pair of leagues: the PIL and the Pacific Metro Baseball League.

They are 6-4 in the former and 3-4 in the latter.

Langley faces the Burnaby Bulldogs on July 13 in a PMBL doubleheader.
