Mini Meet mega successful

One of the best attended mini meets in recent years for local gymnastics club

The Selkirk Challengers Gymnastics annual Mini Meet was held on Saturday, April 27 at the old middle school at Kinnaird. With 31 participants aged from three to 11, it was one of the best attended mini meets in recent years.

Competitors took part in four events and top competitors showcased their skills and competency, wowing the crowd. Marcus Watt, 15, a “coach in training” for the club, also participated in the showcase.

The club has struggled financially over the past four years but with the help of two sponsors and strong fundraising efforts (spearheaded by President Amanda Gibb) the club may finish this year in the black.

The gymnastics club has fall, winter and spring sessions and is always accepting new gymnasts.

Vice-president Stephanie Allen and the board of directors wish to thank Castlegar Realty and Martech Electrical for their contributions to the club and coaches Rhonda Saunders, Tara Watt and coach in training, Marcus Watt.
