Minor football celebrates two decades

Townsend Park hosts a Chilliwack Minor Football party Saturday, celebrating twenty years.

Hundreds of players, parents, visitors and volunteers descend on Townsend Park Saturday as Chilliwack Minor Football celebrates 20 years.

“Not every organization can have 20 amazing years and get better and better each year,” said CMF president Wayne Bjorge. “We have been planning this celebration for months and are looking forward to seeing all the alumni who have supported and benefitted from this organization.”

The party starts at 9 a.m with an all-local atom clash. The final game, at 6:30 p.m., pits Chilliwack’s midget Giants against the Meadow Ridge Knights.

Live Bands will entertain throughout the day and the concession will be open. There will be bouncy castles, face painting and games for the kids. Admission and activities are free.

“There is just no better way to spend a Saturday than at Townsend Park with friends,” said CMF vice president Suresh Parray. “The fact that this is our 20th anniversary celebration just adds to the excitement of the day.”
