Tonight and tomorrow (May 23 and 24) monster vehicles Rock Star and the California Kid bring their car-crunching power to Western Speedway in Langford.
The huge-tired beasts, regulars on the Monster-X Tour, share a card both nights with the demo cars and trucks, bomber cars, mini figure 8s and Capital City Drifting. Qualifying starts at 5:30 p.m. with racing getting underway at 6:30.

Trevor Montgomery finished off a busy night of racing at the track May 17 by capturing the checkered flag in the 15-car main event for sprint cars. He beat out Mark Stuart, Lance Wade and Chris Root, in that order.
Montgomery had won the first heat race, while Mike Haslem took the second heat race and Guy Barrett the trophy dash. Dave Emmerson had posted the fast qualifying lap time of 16.038 seconds.
In stock cars, Kevin Knight took top spot in the 12-car main, beating out second-place finisher Kyle Cottam, Brian Clutchey in third and Dean Mackeney in fourth. Knight also won the first heat, Cottam the second heat and fast time (18.519 seconds) and Clutchey the trophy dash.
Mini-stocker Sean Constantine took first in the main event ahead of Alex Mouner, who had set the fast time of 19.076 seconds and finished second behind Constantine in the heat race. Justin Woodske won the trophy dash ahead of Constantine.
Daryl Cahill and Tristan Gait shared honours in the Hornet class, with Cahill taking the main event and fast time (20.13 seconds), while Tait won the heat race and trophy dash.
Larry Joyce won the main event and the heat race among the Old Time Racers. George Jenson finished second in both, after winning the trophy dash, while Joe Dardengo recorded the fast time of 18.193 seconds.
