PORT McNEILL—Al Rushton and Chris Dutcyvich each had two goals and two assists and fill-in goalie Aaron Hinton notched a shutout as the Port McNeill Mustangs blanked the visiting Port Hardy Bulls 8-0 in commercial hockey league play Sunday at Chilton Regional Arena.
Shay Peterson, Reed Allen, Glenn Moore and Ryan Rushton each added goals for the Mustangs (7-3-1), who utilized a passing clinic to harass Bulls goalie Colin Hunko from multiple angles throughout the contest.
At the other end, the Bulls (4-11-1) were limited mostly to single, long-range shots that were steered away by Hinton or quickly cleared by Mustangs defenders.
Allen and Marty Gage added assists for the winners.
Islanders 2, Bulls 1
One week after getting pasted 8-2 by the Bulls in Port Hardy, the host Islanders (5-6-1) were far more stingy on defence at Port Alice Arena.
Jason Hodson scored twice in the first period to stake the Islanders to a 2-0 advantage, with assists from Toby Roberts and Matt Senciw. Jordan Mercer got one back for the Bulls at 17:19 of the opening period off an assist from Barney Wilson, but Islanders goalie Adam Hall shut the door the rest of the way.
Warriors 9, Islanders 0
In a rare Saturday game, the Warriors improved to 9-5-1.
