Mustangs hosting six-team hoop tournament

The Princess Margaret Mustangs are hosting a six-team tournament starting Friday.

The Mustangs welcome Similkameen Elementary Secondary Sparks, the Vernon Secondary Panthers, Pen High Lakers, Kelowna Christian Knights and Pleasant Valley Stampede.

The Mustangs open against the Sparks at 2 p.m. The Lakers open against the Knights at 7:15 p.m. The Lakers then take on Pleasant Valley Saturday at 9:30 a.m., while the Mustangs face the Panthers at 11:15 a.m. The final will be played at 4:30 p.m.

At the end of January, the Mustangs won two of three in the Pleasant Valley tournament in Armstrong. The Lakers opened with a 58-54 win over the host Saints. Bryn Carter led the offense with 24 points followed by Prab Chahal with 21. The Mustangs second game was a close loss to the Summerland Rockets, 56-55.

Free throw problems the Mustangs, who were five of 15 from the line. The team then wrapped up the tournament with a convincing 68-40 win over Kalamaka. The Mustangs received strong play from John Stinson, Connor Turner, Jaylen Hearne and Sukh Toor.
