Nanaimo athletes fastest around track

Nanaimo Track and Field Club athletes were among the Island’s best at the recent Bob Dailey Track Meet at Port Alberni. Club members took first place in relay races, the 100-metre dash, the long jump and several other disciplines. First-place results from the April 30-May 1 meet include:

Nine-year-old girls – Jazmine Wilkinson, first, 60-metre dash, first, long jump.

Nine-year-old boys – Keaton Heisterman, first, 600m, first, 1,000m, first, long jump; Ethan Katzberg, first, high jump, first, shot put.

10-year-old girls – Kaitlyn Wilson, first, 60m; Kaitlyn Watson, first, 100m, first, 600m, first, 1,000m, first, 60m hurdles, first, high jump.

10-year-old boys – Matthew Morris, first, long jump.

11-year-old girls – Jessica Katzberg, first, 4x100m; Madison Heisterman, first, 600m, first, 1,000m, first, 4x100m; Claire Thomas, first, 4x100m; Marina Anderson, first, 4x100m.

11-year-old boys – Dominic Boar, first, 200m; Jeremiah Morris, first, discus.

12-year-old boys – Joshua Mitchell, first, 300m, first, long jump; Avin Golobar, first, 800m, first, 1,200m.

13-year-old girls – Amy Morris, first, 1,200m; Rachel Jerome, first, triple jump; Amelia Kazanowski, first, javelin.

13-year-old boys – Bryce Kosak, first, hammer throw, first, high jump, first, 80m hurdles; Evan Price, first, 4x100m; Josh Bailey, first, 4x100m; Haydn Sitler, first, 4x100m; Jason Clare, first, 4x100m, first, long jump.

14-year-old girls – Amanda Dobbyn, first, 300m.

15-year-old girls – Carly O’Sullivan, first, 1,500m steeplechase.

16-17-year-old girls – Jillian Hannah, first, 100m.

18-19-year-old women – Mei San Lamoureux, first, 100m.

Masters women – Valerie Capewell, first, 100m, first, 200m.
