Nanaimo volleyball players are B.C.’s best on the beach

Two Nanaimo teams were winners at Volleyball B.C. Youth Beach Provincials at Vancouver’s Spanish Banks over the August long weekend.

Two local teams were winners at Volleyball B.C. Youth Beach Provincials at Vancouver’s Spanish Banks over the August long weekend.

Jeff Webb and Sam Harder won the U17-U18 boys’ Tier 1 championship, defeating Abbotsford’s Kaden Gamache and Josh Fefchak in a closely contested final, 24-22 and 21-19.

Also winning gold were Erin MacNeil and Sophia Dendes, who are U14 Tier 1 champions. They defeated  Surrey’s Meg Mueller and Grace Stausgaard in their final.

Youth provincials were part of a huge weekend of volleyball at the venue, with more than 400 teams competing over three days.
