Nelson’s MacLeod helps Eagles to first round win

The number-one ranked Boston College Eagles scored a 2-0 victory over Air Force Saturday afternoon

The number-one ranked Boston College Eagles scored a 2-0 victory over Air Force Saturday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Division I hockey tournament.

Nelson Minor Hockey graduate Isaac MacLeod and his Boston College teammates will now play Minnesota Duluth who defeated Maine 5-2 on Saturday. The winner of the game — which will be played tonight starting at 8 p.m. ET — will advance to the Frozen Four in Tampa. The Frozen Four is slated for April 5 to 7.

The Eagles faced a tougher game than expected against Air Force. Chris Kreider scored seven minutes into the first period, but after that Air Force shut down the Eagles offence. It wasn’t until Kreider scored his second goal of the game on a powerplay with less than two minutes left in the game that the Eagles could breathe easier.

MacLeod is a sophomore defenceman with the powerhouse Eagles. Last season Boston College came into the NCAA tournament as one of the favourites and were upset by Colorado College in the first round.
