Chilliwack’s Lisa Deputan rink finished fourth at last week’s B.C. Senior Women’s Curling Championship.
The event was played Monday through Sunday at the Salmon Arm Curling Centre.
Representing the Chilliwack Curling Club with Kerri Miller (third), Jane Adam (second) and Laurie Shimizu (lead), Deputan see-sawed her way to a 4-3 record and was knocked out of contention by the eventual champion, Qualicum’s Lynne Noble.
Deputan started with a 6-3 win over Karen Lepine (Langley/Cloverdale) followed by two straight losses, 5-4 to Noble and 8-4 to Langley’s Shiella Cowan. She bounced back with two straight wins, downing Castlegar’s Heather Nichol (4-3) and Terrance’s Lisa Bulleid (10-2) before hitting another dip with a 5-4 loss to Salmon Arm’s Sandra Jenkins.
Deputan rebounded one more time with a 6-5 win over Marilou Richter before finally bowing out for good.
In her only playoff match, Deputan battled Noble to a 6-6 draw through seven ends, but Noble posted three in the eighth for a 9-6 win.
Eight teams competed.
Noble moves on to represent B.C. in the 2017 Everest Canadian Senior Women’s Curling Championships, taking place Mar. 18-25 in Fredericton, NB.
