North Langley Bears maul Knights 51-12

Zander Bailey scores four times along the ground as junior bantam team thumps Meadow Ridge

The North Langley junior bantam Bears offence erupted in a 51-12 victory over the Meadow Ridge Knights on Monday in Maple Ridge.

The junior bantam football team was led by Zander Bailey who scored four rushing touchdowns while Pablo Wigwigan scored twice on long runs of 45 and 80 yards, respectively.

Keyan Adkins and Jacob Stebbings had the other North Langley touchdowns, the latter coming after Stebbings hit Brett Christensen with a 50-yard pass and run play which took the ball to the Meadow Ridge one-yard line.

On defence, Sureet Pabbi had a fumble recovery and Ryan Taylor picked off a pass.

The North Langley peewee Bears were on the wrong end of a 32-0 score in their game on Monday against the host Meadow Ridge Knights.

The Bears defence held firm for much of the first half before the Knights finally found the end zone at the tail end of the half.

Cadeyrn Barthelson and Brandon Brynjolfson led the defence while quarterback Ken McLean directed the offence.

North Langley’s bantam and midget teams travelled to Chilliwack on Saturday, but both came out on the losing end of their games.

The bantam Bears lost 34-0 to the Giants while the midgets fell 32-3 to Chilliwack.

The lone points for the midget team came off the foot of Chris Baerg who booted a first-quarter field goal.

In the bantam game, both Max Joseph and Jake Laberge came up with score-saving interceptions.

The atom Bears had the week off but they still kept busy, participating in an exhibition scrimmage against New Westminster at halftime of Saturday’s B.C. Lions game versus the Calgary Stampeders at B.C. Place.
