In Trail Commercial Hockey League action the bottom dwellers were feeding off the surface as the Arlington upset second place OK Tire.
The Big “A” was comfortably holding down last place in the TCHL with only one win, until their game against OK Tire last week, when a huge three-goal outburst in the first period paced them to a 4-1 victory and their second win of the season.
Nathan Ehman started the scoring converting a pass from Kelly Shippet eight minutes in to the first. Shippet made it 2-0 four minutes later and Darrell Zol scored his first of two on the evening to put the pub up 3-0 going into the second.
Dylan Lenarduzzi was stellar between the pipes, keeping OK off the board until the second period when Troy Palmer scored on a set up from Mike Fudge and Joel Scheel. Lenarduzzi closed the door after that, and the Arlington would add one more from Zol to complete the scoring and give the “A” the victory.
In other action, the Rex Hotel Red Army shut out Firebird 5-0.
Tim Wylie got the shutout for the Red Army and Jim Maniago netted a hat trick to lead the attack.
Andrew Jenner also had a good night for the Rex, scoring a goal and adding three helpers for a four-point game. The hat trick from Maniago propelled him into fifth place in league scoring while Jenner’s four-points put him in the top 10.
TCHL action goes Sunday at the Cominco Arena when Firebird plays Arlington at 3:30 p.m. and Re/Max vs Rex at 4:45 p.m.
