More than 400 swimmers from a dozen swim clubs from the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island hit the water as the Langley Olympians Swim Club hosted their seventh annual short course meet earlier this month (Nov. 16 and Nov. 17).

And local athletes delivered some great performances with plenty of medals, qualifying times and a couple of new club records.

Gold medals:

Siobhan Board (16) in the 15 & over girls 100 back;

Chelsea Borrowdale (14) in the 13-14 girls 400 free, 200 breast, 200 IM and 400 IM;

Josie Field (11) in the 11-12 girls 200 fly;

Alysse Franklin (14) in the 13-14 girls 200 back;

Joshua Franklin (17) in the 15 & over boys 100 free;

Joshua Kim (11) in the 11-12 boys 200 breast, 200 free, 100 breast and 100 free;

Club Records

Joshua Kim, age 11, set two new clubs in the 11-12 boys 100 breast in a time of 1:18.08 and the 200 breast in a time of 2:49.42.

New Qualifying Times

A number of LOSC swimmers achieved new Provincial Qualifying Times at the meet;

AA Times – Reagen Bedard (10) 11 year girls 100 breast; Reese Blunden (10) 11 year girls 100 back.

AAA Times – Bryce Dong (11) 11 year boys 200IM, 200 free and 200 back; Sarah Buckingham (11) 11 year girls 400 free and 200 free.

100 per cent personal best times

One hundred per cent  best times at the meet were achieved by, Chelsea Borrowdale, Danielle de la Gorgendiere, Bryce Dong, Mackenzie Dong, Alysse Franklin, Cassidy Fu, Avery Martin, Alanna Picotte and Dylan Thomas.
