Eight Aldergrove skaters attended the annual Jingle Blades competition this past weekend at the Centennial Arena in White Rock.

Kelsey Flint captured her first Gold medal in the Pre-Preliminary Women Group 8 event, skating a solid performance and finishing with a two point lead. Also in the Pre-Preliminary event were Stephanie Fournier, Carly Postlethwaite and Rachel Rollke, all having personal best skates.

In the Interpretive categories Linda Maundrell, one of Aldergrove’s adult skaters, placed third in a field of 13 skaters in the Pre-Introductory Interpretive event. Linda skated to “Raindrops keep falling on my head” and she captured the judges compliments for a program well interpreted.

In the Bronze Interpretive event, Natasha Woods, skating to “It’s a Wonderful World” performed a beautiful program with flow and edges to receive the Bronze placing.

Natasha Woods, then skated again on Saturday in the Junior Silver Womens category and completed a three-minute program, bringing home the Silver Medal, the highest placing for Natasha in this category.

In the Senior Bronze Women category, Rebecca Sawatzky moved up into this category for the first time. She was not only competing in the event but was also being tested for this level. She skated a sound program, passing her test with excellent marks.

Dylan Ouellette skated in her first competition in the Performance Program category. This event is for beginners to perform their solos in a non-competitive atmosphere. The skaters are ajudicated, and given a ribbon and certificate that ranks them in either a Bronze, Silver or Gold standing. Dylan achieved the Silver standing, having a good solid skate.

The Aldergrove skaters also competed in the Pacific Ice Synchronized Skating Gala at South Surrey Arena on Dec. 3. This is the first event in which the four Aldergrove Synchronized Skating teams debuted their new programs.
