Outlaws on a roll, shoot down Panthers, Pilots

The Mission City Outlaws picked up their first back-to-back wins of the season last week, topping Port Moody and Abbotsford.

The Mission City Outlaws picked up their first back-to-back wins of the season last week, topping the Port Moody Panthers and the Abbotsford Pilots.

The win over Port Moody last Thursday wasn’t necessarily an eyebrow-raiser – the Panthers sit last in the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s Harold Brittain Conference, and the Outlaws took care of business at home, winning 4-1.

Brody Dyck (two goals), Kolby Steen (one goal, two assists) and David McGowan (one goal, one assist) paced the offence, while Jeffrey Veitch made 22 saves.

The Outlaws followed that up with a legitimately impressive victory, knocking off the conference-leading Abbotsford Pilots 4-2 at MSA Arena on Friday. Mission out-shot the Pilots 41-38, and got goals from Dakota Klassen (2), Kyle Raymond and Bakshi Gill in the victory, while goalie William Latimer turned aside 36 shots.

The Outlaws (5-9-4, 14 points) are in action tonight (Thursday, Nov. 21) at the Mission Leisure Centre, hosting the North Delta Devils at 7:15 p.m.
