Chilliwack peewee baseball teams took four of five in weekend action.
The peewee A squad played in Cloverdale Friday night, taking a 9-5 win. Ryan Burton, Braydon Blakeway and Brendan Goldsworthy combined to strike out eight Cloverdale batters. Catcher Colton Sampson threw out five base runners as they tried to swipe second base.
Several Chilliwack batters had two or more hits, and the final score would have been more impressive had the Cougars not left the based loaded twice.
Chilliwack beat the Aldergrove Hurricanes 11-7 on Sunday.
The AAA crew started their weekend on Vancouver Island, clobbering Nanaimo 15-3 on Saturday.
Defence keyed the win. Center fielder Shawn MacMillan produced a handful of highlight-reel catches, and Dylan Merritt and Wil Kushniryk turned in a textbook double-play to kill a Nanaimo rally.
Dylan Ohlsen led the offence, clubbing four doubles.
The Cougars took it on the chin in their next game, falling 14-1 to Victoria Black, but they bounced back on Sunday with a 10-9 win over Victoria Red. Ohlsen had a grand slam in this one, and Noah Zimmer had three RBIs.
Levi Moorman earned the save, striking out the final Victoria batter.
