Campbell River Ravens Peewee C lacrosse squad cruises to 8-2 win over visiting Juan de Fuca

Campbell River’s Peewee C Ravens got their home season off to a rousing start Sunday, cruising to an 8-2 win over visiting Juan de Fuca in Vancouver Island Minor Lacrosse play at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.

Finnley Goodliffe and Ken Sweet combined for seven goals and Joseph Marks enjoyed a strong game in goal as the Ravens built a big lead through the middle of the game and coasted to the win over the visiting Whalers.

After Ty McNeilly staked the Ravens to the early lead with a goal in the opening four minutes, Juan de Fuca touched Marks for a tying score at 5:48 of the first period. But that was the only threat the Whalers would mount, as Goodliffe closed the period with back-to-back goals and Sweet opened the second with a pair of his own.

By the time Goodliffe scored his fourth of the game with 6:28 remaining, the Ravens were cruising with an 8-1 lead. Juan de Fuca closed the game with a meaningless tally with 5:23 before Marks slammed the door for good.

Sweet finished with three goals, Goodliffe added an assist to his tally, and Jas Thiara and Brandon Babcock chipped in helpers in the Ravens’ win.
