The Mainstream Biological Consulting Peewee B Tyees had a great weekend of VIAHA tiering round play with two games at home last weekend.
Action started Saturday in a game which saw the Tyees up against Oceanside.
The Tyees came out with a bang, scoring a short-handed goal 48 seconds in by forward Riley Billy assisted by Cole Devlin.
The second period saw three more goals for the Tyees by Billy (assisted by Sage Cameron), a powerplay goal by Ben Wellman (Clinton Nelson) and another powerplay goal by Heydon Campbell (Wellman).
The Oceanside Generals tried to no avail to get on the board as the Tyee defence and goaltender Carson Borgfjord would not let anything get by.
The third period saw much of the same with the Tyees all working hard to keep the momentum going with another three unaswered goals by Ridge Rosa (Brayden Davidsen), Cameron (Rosa), and Davidsen (Nelson). Final result was a well deserved 7-0 win for the Tyees team and a shutout earned on his stats for goalie Borgfjord.
On Sunday the Tyees met Comox, a team they have met twice previously for exhibition games already this season.
These games were barn burners that resulted in two close Tyee wins so anticipation was high for another win to cap off the weekend.
The game proved to be exciting but the Tyees came up one goal short and lost 4-3.
On the scoreboard were Billy (Davidsen, Downey), Cameron, and Hayden Cross.
Hardworking play by the whole team and goaltender Sam Ellis (saving upwards of 30 shots) made for a close game.
The team will be playing hard again this weekend at the annual Thanksgiving tournament in Port Alberni and will resume VIAHA tiering round play Oct 13 with a game in Nanaimo. Next home game will be Sunday, Oct 14 at Rod Brind’Amour Arena, 11 a.m. versus Cowichan Valley.
