The Penticton Heat bantam C team took bronze at the provincial championships.

Jacob Stewart was chosen as Game MVP in the bronze medal match where the Heat defeated Victoria in a hard fought game 4-3.

The Heat kicked off the tournament shutting out Langley 7-0. Stewart picked up the Game MVP for that match as well. Coming out sluggish against Victoria in their second game, the Heat lost 5-1. Jackson Jamieson was the Game MVP.

On Sunday morning the Heat needed a victory over Quesnel to move on the medal round. They managed to dig themselves out a three goal deficit with just seven minutes remaining in the game. Down 4-1, the Heat scored at the seven minute mark then potted two more in a 38-second timeframe to knot things up between the two teams sending them to overtime. The Heat secured the win 1:30 into the extra frame. Iian Essler was named the Game MVP.

In the semi-final, the Heat ran into a strong Cowichan Valley team and once again fell behind on the scoreboard. The Heat couldn’t mount a comeback and lost 7-2. Game MVP was Isaac Jack.

The loss put the Heat into the bronze medal game against Victoria. Cowichan Valley took the gold and West Kootenay silver.

Selected to the tournament All-Star team was Ethan Clutterbuck. Meghan Cote won the teams sportsmanship award.

Heat coaches praised the play of goalie Laisen Henson and said without his strong effort they wouldn’t have come up with a medal.
