Penticton’s Andi Naude is competing for a spot on the Canadian Olympic roster on Sunday.
The Canadian Freestyle Ski Association issued a statement about the scenario for the athletes trying to earn a spot to go to the Sochi Winter Olympics next month. Canada has 26 spots available for their athletes competing in mogul, aerial, halfpipe, slopestyle and ski cross. The competition comes down to the final day of qualification in Val Saint-Come, Que.
CFSA stated the women’s side has the Dufour-Lapointe sisters (Justine, Maxime and Chloé) trying to become one of the first three sisters to compete at the same Olympic Games. The trio has podium finishes and are two, three and four in the World Cup standings, respectively. Naude is in eighth place in the World Cup standings and will try to secure her place on the national squad.
Qualifications begin in the morning, while the finals are at 11:45 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.
