Peters pitches gem, Senior Blaze end two-game losing streak

Jesse Peters allows just a single hit while Bob Foester goes yard in 3-0 victory

A complete game one-hitter from Jesse Peters helped the Langley Senior Blaze end a two-game losing streak.

Peters needed just 76 pitches and had no walks and eight strikeouts in the win on Monday night at McLeod Park.

Bob Foerster hit a home run while Billy Germaine had the other RBI.

The team was coming off back-to-back losses to the Everett Merchants on Saturday night, losing 7-2 and 12-9.

Langley lost the opener 7-2 after surrendering runs in each of the first five innings.

Altogether, the Merchants batters pounded out 16 hits while the Blaze were held to two runs on seven hits. Brendan Halstrom and Riley MacDonald had the Langley RBIs.

The second game saw Everett score four runs in the fourth and five in the sixth en route to a 13-9 win. The Blaze didn’t help their own cause as they committed six errors which led to six unearned runs.

Michael Dagg, Scott Webster and Laszio Horvath each drove in a pair of runs in the loss. Tyler Barlow had one RBI as well.

Langley, which is 7-11 on the season,  is back in action on July 4 when they play at Robert Burnaby Park against Burnaby Collegiate.
