The Abbotsford Pilots notched an overtime win over their local rivals from Mission last Thursday, but dropped both of their weekend games to teams from the Tom Shaw Conference.
Brad Parker’s goal at 1:28 of OT lifted the local junior B club to a 4-3 win over the Mission Icebreakers at the Mission Leisure Centre. Riley Lamb, Brady Lawlor and Brandon Daase also scored for Abby, while Aaron Oakley picked up the win with a 22-save effort.
On Friday at MSA Arena, Jarrett Martin’s power-play goal at 12:05 of the third period gave the Pilots a 3-2 lead on the Delta Ice Hawks. But the visitors rallied for a 4-3 win, behind late goals from Cody Fidgett and John Proctor.
On Sunday at Burnaby Winter Club, the Pilots stumbled out of the gate, spotting the Grandview Steelers a 3-0 lead before the game was eight minutes old. Goals by Travis Grewal and Parker trimmed the deficit to one, but that was as close as they would get, as the Steelers went on to win 5-2.
The Pilots still hold down second place in the Harold Brittain Conference at 13-4-1-1. They visit the division-leading Aldergrove Kodiaks on Wednesday (7:15 p.m., Aldergrove Community Arena), and host the Port Moody Black Panthers on Friday (7:30 p.m., MSA Arena).
