Former Abbotsford Pilots goalie Aaron Oakley will play collegiate hockey this fall, after committing to the Selkirk College men’s program this week.
Oakley, who won the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s MVP award last season, led the league in games played (33) and wins (23), and was second in goals against average (2.01) and fourth in save percentage (.918).
In 2011-12, he backstopped the Pilots to the Cyclone Taylor Cup provincial title and the Keystone Cup Western Canadian championship.
Selkirk, based in Castlegar, plays in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League.
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to further my schooling while playing for a team that is devoted to winning,” said Oakley. “I’m looking forward to getting started and helping the team win its second championship in as many seasons.”
