The annual open horseshoe pitching tournament was held Aug. 6 with 34 competitors from Golden to Ashcroft, down the valley to Penticton and from Trail.

Some local winners included Emil Foltan in Elders A placing first.

The largest group of Salmon Arm pitchers was in Elders C, with four of the Salmon Arm members throwing to a grand finish with double playoff.

Placing third in the group was Ted Peters, second was Kevin Scallon of Ashcroft and first was Edwin Krieg. His high game per cent was a 41.7 ringers.

Ed Crumly in Elders D placed first with five wins. The highest percentage of the men’s competition was earned by Andy Danyleyko of Winfield with a 70 per cent.

In afternoon play, Ladies A player Viviann Fendel, shot a 73.5 game.

Sunday, Aug. 7, 16 players remained to play mix walking doubles. The team of Jack Johnson and Faith Juell was second after six wins, losing to Ted Turner of Summerland paired with Ervin Albert of Vernon.

 

The team of Edwin Krieg and Ed Crumly placed a close third.
