Aldergrove's Sarah Potomak earns most outstanding player award as University of Minnesota captures NCAA title

Aldergrove’s Sarah Potomak scored a goal and an assist to help the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers women’s hockey team defeat Boston College 3-1 to capture the national championship.

The game was played Sunday at the University of New Hampshire’s Whittemore Center Arena.

Potomak opened the scoring just 13 seconds into the game and was named the tournament’s most outstanding player. She also scored the overtime winner in a 3-2 semifinal victory over Wisconsin.

This was the 17-year-olds freshman season with the Gophers and Potomak earned the Western Collegiate Hockey Association rookie of the year award.
