Prather pitches shutout as Langley splits with Parksville

Langley Blaze Premier Baseball team sits at 3-2 after going 1-1 in Parksville

Kyle Prather scattered three hits over seven shutout innings as the Langley Blaze returned from Parksville with a doubleheader split.

Prather struck out three in game one on Sunday, a 4-0 victory at Parksville’s Royals Field.

The Royals battled back in game two, however, posting a 5-2 win.

The results leave Langley with a 3-2 record in the BC Premier Baseball League standings.

In the opener, Michael Stovman had the lone RBI as the Blaze scored three unearned runs in the victory.

Game two saw the Royals scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to snap a 2-2 tie en route to their 5-2 victory.

Stovman was tagged with the loss, allowing two earned runs over four and one-third innings.

Danny Berg had an RBI single while Marshall Luiz hit a sacrifice fly for Langley’s offence.

The Blaze head off to Kamloops this weekend for the Best of the West Tournament.

Langley will play its home opener at McLeod Athletic Park on April 18.
