The 2015 Volleyball BC Provincial Championships wrapped up this weekend at Tradex. Hundreds of club teams competed over the past two weeks for top spot in 13U, 14U, 15U and 16U categories.
The event brought together the best club teams from across the province, including those from Abbotsford’s Orangemen and Elevate clubs and several from the Fraser Valley Volleyball Club (FVVC), for a three-weekend tournament hosted at the Tradex Convention Centre in Abbotsford and the Richmond Oval.
Elevate’s Larsen team won gold in the 14U Girls Division 3, while the FVVC won the 16U Girls title.
Other local teams also put up solid results.
In 13U Girls Division 2, Elevate McLean finished eighth, with Danielle Visser named most inspirational player. Division 3 competition saw Elevate Williams finish 13th, with Elizabeth Staetter claiming the most inspirational award.
The 13U Boys division saw the Orangemen Lions finish eighth, with Rahul Wiebe named most inspirational.
In the 14U Girls Division 1 class, Elevate Unrau and most inspirational player Sarah Seinen finished fourth. In Division 3, where Elevate Larsen and most inspirational player Kylie Mcmahon claimed gold, Elevate Letwin finished 13th. Ceilidh Smith was named the team’s most inspiring player.
In 14U Boys Division 1 play, Orangemen Crush finished second, led by most inspiring player Ethan Loewen. Orangemen Monarchs finished seventh.
In Division 2, Orangemen Underdogs finished seventh. Joey Forfellow was named most inspiring player.
In 15U Girls Division 2, Elevate Jarvis claimed seventh spot while Elevate Presnilla finished 15th.
In 15U Boys play, the FVVC grabbed fifth spot, while Orangemen finished seventh.
The FVVC Fusion won the 16U Girls title, with the team’s Camryn Vosloh named most valuable player and Morgan Hindy and Abbotsford’s Alexis Edwards named all-stars.
Among the 16U Boys, FVVC finished second, with Orangemen placing 13th.
Girls and Boys 17U and 18U teams were also battling for provincial supremacy in Richmond. There, the 17U/18U boys finished second at FVVC Agoge.
