The V.I. Raiders have a great chance to stem a losing streak.
Nanaimo’s Canadian Junior Football League team (1-2) takes on the undefeated Valley Huskers (2-0-1) this Saturday (Aug. 17) at Caledonia Park.
It’s not often the Raiders look up at the Huskers in the B.C. Football Conference standings, but the Huskers were awarded a default win over the Okanagan Sun this week and thus find themselves in second place.
The Raiders, meanwhile, saw marked progress in their most recent game, a 36-28 loss to the Langley Rams last Saturday, but won’t be satisfied with losses moving forward.
Matthew (Snoop) Blokker said his team needs to play more consistently.
“We can’t have blanks. You can’t go through games and not score in quarters, and that’s an area where we need to get better,” he said.
Game time is 4 p.m. at Caledonia. Tickets $10-12 at the gate.
