Rams hit the field

Langley Rams defensive back Jordan Linnen is off to Kamloops, where he will attend the B.C. Lions’ four-day rookie camp next month.

Linnen, a Surrey native, is attending on a territorial junior exemption, and he hopes to impress the CFL team’s coaches enough to earn an invite to the Lions’ main camp the following week.

Rookie camp is June 1-4.

Linnen had 28 solo tackles and three assists last season, as well as forcing one fumble, recovering two others and intercepting one pass.

The Rams, who moved to Langley this past off-season after a long and storied history in Surrey, are holding their own spring training camp beginning today (Friday) and running until Sunday at McLeod Athletic Park.

About 100 players are expected at the camp, including most of the top junior football prospects from B.C. Minor Football and B.C. high school football programs.

The team begins league play in the B.C. Junior Football Conference on July 30.
