Rams pair honoured

Two weekly awards for Langley junior football team

The Langley Rams were honoured with a pair of weekly awards following their 42-14 victory on Saturday in Victoria.

Running back Kyle Albertini was named the B.C. Junior Football Conference offensive player of the week while kicker Nick Naylor was the special teams player of the week, as they helped the Rams clinch third place by virtue of their victory over the Westshore Rebels on the final day of the regular season.

Albertini rushed the ball 13 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns, as well as catching three passes for 56 yards and another score.

Naylor made four converts while also kicking two field goals from 32 and 40 yards, respectively.

Naylor also punted the ball seven times for 251 yards, consistently pinning the Rebels deep in their own end. On kickoffs, Naylor booted the ball six times for 353 yards.

With the win, the Rams (5-5) travel to Kelowna on Oct. 16 to face the Okanagan Sun (8-2) in a league semifinal game.

The other semifinal pits top-seed Vancouver Island Raiders (10-0) against Westshore (5-5).
