Rams top Mustangs

South Delta tops Langley in bantam football showdown

A first-place showdown went in favour of the top seed, the South Delta Rams.

The Rams showed why they hold top spot over the second-place Langley Mustangs, winning the bantam football game convincingly, by a 36-6 on Sunday at McLeod Athletic Park.

South Delta’s quarterback ran roughshod over the Langley defence with three rushing touchdowns while tossing another two scores in the victory.

The Mustangs defence struggled with some poor tackling and sloppy pass coverage.

The team was also hurt by untimely penalties. One negated a long punt return which would have put Langley deep in Rams territory. The other penalty wiped out a fumble return for a touchdown.

The offence had opportunities to score, as they twice had first and goal situations, but both times were unable to punch the ball into the end zone.

Langley’s offence also took a hit as they lost their starting quarterback, Colton Dejong, to injury in the second quarter.
