With first place already wrapped up, the Langley Jr. Blaze lost for just the second time in the past 15 games — and only the seventh defeat all season — 3-1 on Wednesday night to the Fraser Valley Jr. Chiefs.
The Blaze lost despite out-hitting the Chiefs 8-4.
Langley’s lone run was scored in the fifth inning by Tanner Shaer on a Mitchell Robinson single, one of his three hits in the game.
Matt Strother was tagged with the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in four and two-thirds innings.
Langley (39-7) closes the regular season on Sunday (July 24) with a doubleheader in Nanaimo against the second-place Jr. Pirates (31-11).
