Ahead of their season opener, the Westshore Rebels are going all in to host a gala fundraiser dinner May 13 at Olympic View Golf Club.
Presented by the Saunders Family Foundation, the event features an unprecedented collection of guest speakers, from 2015 Grey Cup champion Brian Ramsay of the Edmonton Eskimos, last season’s CFL defensive player of the year Adam Bighill of the B.C. Lions, CFL Hall of Famer and former Eskimo great Dave Cutler, Lions centre Tim O’Neill and TSN reporter Farhan Lalji.
A special part of the evening will see former Rebel O’Neill’s number 55 jersey retired.
“This is a huge step for Victoria’s Westshore Rebels football program,” says head coach J.C. Boice. “The quality of this event will be impressive. Our athletes and our community are very fortunate to be the beneficiaries of this event and the great people behind the scenes that are making it happen.”
For the golfers in the crowd, there’s also an opportunity to get out on the course with a football celebrity the next day.
Tickets for the fundraiser are $99 apiece or $750 for a table of eight, until April 20, after which the prices rise to $120 and $900, respectively. Find purchase details for the dinner or golf online at westshorerebels.ca or call 250-858-6918 to reserve.
Rebels schedule announced for 2016
Junior football fans won’t have to wait to see their Westshore Rebels in action this season.
The B.C. Football Conference club plays its first two games of the 2016 season at Westhills Stadium, hosting the 2014 BCFC champion Langley Rams for a rare Sunday game July 24 (4 p.m. start) then taking on arch-rival Vancouver Island Raiders for a Saturday night contest July 30 (7 p.m. start).
The club then hits the road for three straight games, the first of which sees the Rebels and new assistant head coach Shane Beatty head to Kelowna to play his former team, the Okanagan Sun on Aug. 6. The season wraps up with a home game Oct. 1 against Kamloops.
Season tickets are on sale now. Visit westshorerebels.ca for more information and to book your seats.
